Overview

In Japanese, mikata can mean "a way of seeing" or "ally" (depending on how it's written). In that spirit, Mikata Garage offers a unique environment for small teams to find fresh energy and perspective. The space is novel, authentic and relaxing, and intended to encourage groups to step away from their daily habits and mindsets to build, play, and ideate. It is a garage after all--not precious or pretentious, but rather a place to ponder challenges, roll up your sleeves, and get down to fixing things. It is ideal for leadership teams, start-ups and boards looking for a relaxed, productive urban hideaway.

With essential collaboration space amenities -- and located feet from the great cafes, bars, parks, artist studios and shops of the inner East side -- Mikata Garage is available for use as a meeting space and can be combined with facilitation or consulting services (your own or our local experts).

The garage also has an adjacent guest house that can accommodate out-of-town colleagues and/or additional collaboration areas, yoga space and a full kitchen.

Caffeine

An essential input for work and play, we have three coffee shops at the end of the street and just down Belmont: Never Coffee, Red Square and Kind Coffee. There is always a hot pot of fuel at Mikata Garage, and your supplemental java or tea is a stone’s throw away.

Beer

The bookend to coffee is a good pint, and we have two of Portland’s most famous bars at each end of the street. Belmont Station is a retail store and cafe with more than a thousand available beers. The Horse Brass is a renowned English-style pub that will transport you across the pond.
